2001 Grand Cherokee Limited info

Have a chance to buy a 2001 Limited with 88k fully loaded.
Jeep has 4x4 select drive. Question! When putting the jeep in 4 wheel drive part time a light on the dash lights up saying 2 wheel PT. When i put in 4 wheel hi NO light on dash. Then when I put it in 4 wheel low it lit up and said 2 wheel PT. Dealer told me the light is not suppose to light in 4 wheel high/low is this correct. I figured the light would light to remind you what Drive you are in. I know my Dodge quad PU does and my Dodge Durango lights with any drive im in on the dash. So does the light suppose to light on the dash on the Jeep or not?
