Death wobble ?

Ok, i had a real bad shake in the front end of my cherokee. i started checking things out and found my u joints to be trash... infact when i got them out there was allmost nothing left of the needle bearings. it took allmost 4 hours to find the rite replacement parts though. the guy that sold me the truck didnt tell me he did work on the defferentials and swaped the axels out...after going to several parts stores and shops i figured out he swaped the parts out of a grand wagoneer... which is cool becuase those us joints are about twice the size of the standard cherokee u joints... any way i drove about 300 miles today and all was smoothe like a new truck up untill about 250 miles when the shake started to come back... i feel it mostly in the steering wheel so i know its the front end. I know the u joints are good, i put on new pads and rotors, and inspected but did not replace the hubs. the seemed to be ok... Any ideas ? My ball joints and tie rod ends dont look bad and i dont see any play in them, and pumped some greece in all my greecer fittings while i was under it this weekend. Ive herd that its not uncommon to have problems with the track bar causeing what jeepers like to call the "death wobble". Think maybe thats my issue. I have not lifted the truck (yet) the ride hight is all stock. i was thinking also that it might be my tires... i have some good year wrangler ATS 235 75 15. I just read some reviews on theese tires on epinions and it looks as though alot of people have problems with theese tires and cuping, and shakeing. I do have three plugs in one tire. im a sheet metal worker and its not uncommon to pick up a zip screw in your tire. thanks for any help.

Re: Death wobble ?

Start with a tire rotation back to front. Then balance them if necessary.

Tire balance problems happen at 55 mph with 235s.

Re: Death wobble ?

just rotated and balanced less than 3000 miles ago. I am looking into new tires though cause I'm thinking maybe i have a broken belt in the tire with three plugs (now on the front). I'm thinking about the kuhmo road venture 834's.

Re: Death wobble ?

Do a front end alignment check.

Look under xj spec. and troublshooting. Read whats under death wobble.
