spare tire for taurus wagon
trying to find a replacement spare tire (rim is fine) for 96 taurus wagon. Can't find any new tires 135/70R15. Is there a full size that will fit in the wheel well or should I shop the junkyards? Thanks.

Re: spare tire for taurus wagon
I think I've heard someone say a full size tire will fit underneath in the well, but definitely not in the side compartment. Junkyard would certainly be the cheapest and my first choice. Dealer would be quite expensive for a new tire, rim or both. Have you tried a major tire dealer? If you still have the rim, they may be able to put a different size tire on it, but it probably would still be smaller than the original, which would still not fit in the side compartment.

Re: spare tire for taurus wagon
One new temp tire plus mounting will be double the price for a junkyard spare.

Re: spare tire for taurus wagon
also, when looking in junkyards keep in mind that the spare from any '96-'06 taurus or sable should work with your car.
