Help on Sensor readings with a MultiMeter

Well, i have a no start that cranks over beautifully but wont start.
The multi meter i have below is the kind i have on me, i can follow directions in the book as to what the readings are, what i am confused about is what setting i put this multimeter on.
So in short where does the red and black wires go, and what setting should i turn the dial on for testing and checking sensors and coil pack on this intrepid.
