Coolant leak from a Newbie
I have a 1999 Tahoe OBS with 105K miles and have been having an issue of coolant leak but random....Some times it is very light and some days a lot......and a few days of nothing. The temp runs below normal on the gauge and I had the head gasket done 4 years ago. I am going to take the shroud off tomorrow to see if I figure out where the leak is coming from specifically. It seems the leak is coming down the front driver side front it is "falling" off the front driver side bumper. Once I take the shroud off to get a better view...what can I look for to figureout the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Coolant leak from a Newbie
They make a leak dye kit for engine coolant.
Helps find the small hard to find leaks. Also a rad pressure test cold and warm and hot helps find it. Have a close look at the rad core and tank and hoses when you get the shroud off. If rad is leaking look/check around for a new one. Good Luck and let us know how it goes MT

what coolant are you using ...? also did you check coolant system for sludge..if you are using non dexcool with tap water you will continue to experience problems....also insuffient coolant will cause corrosion..you need 50% coolant....to protect system...owners in warm areas usually refuse to use the proper amount of coolant...... most likely it is intake leak...good luck |
