91 Lsi Convertable. Shocks and Vacuum Hose Chart ?

What are the best shocks, front and rear, for my 1991 Lsi convertable. I like a smooth ride that will not bottom out when I hit bumps.

Does anyone have a vacuum hose chart for this car. It has a G10 3cycl.

Also my heater/ac blower stopped without warning. Not a fuse issue, so what else can I do to fix it? AC light still comes on and can hear compressor click on but not blower.

Thanks,

Edward

Koni shocks are the best and adjustable, price is ridiculous, like $125. KYB GR2 is very good, around $50 each. You might have to pretend you have a Swift GTI, not everyone lists them for a Metro, they fit perfectly.

Maybe someone has a 91 service manual for the vacuum line diagram, I'm not your boy on this one.

Your fan is most likely the fan motor itself. The switches go bad a lot, but usually one speed at a time. There's also a fan resistor that could go, but I doubt it would effect all speeds. Unplug the connector going to the fan and see if there is voltage there. If so, it's the fan motor.

What you need to check 1st on this car is the fan speed switch in the dash itself, Their notorious for seperating and failing. ( 2 pieces of the switch snap together, but they come apart over time and the switch fails to make contact inside of it). Read this post on how to fix the fan switch in the dash.

A/C heater fan switch Repair.

If you remove the fan switch from the dash and squeeze it together by hand and the blower motor starts working.......You've found your problem!
If Not, What Woodie said on the Blower Motor. Does the blower motor work at all on the highest setting (Full Speed), If So, The blower motor resistor pack probably went bad. If not, The blower motor is probably gone!

Here's a couple Vacumn hose Diagrams for the 89-94 1.0 G-10 3Cyl engines and cars.

Re: 91 Lsi Convertable. Shocks and Vacuum Hose Chart ?

Recently replaced the shocks on my spouses Vert (which she lovingly refers to as Teeny Little Super Car) with KYB GRs'2 all the way around and have been pleased with them, they don't seem to bottom out until you hit the "very spirited" level of driving and seem to give good control.

The fronts are struts which will require a spring compressor while the back are sort of an insert hybrid that can be replaced without a compressor. When I was contemplating the job I was looking at 2 sets of decent grade manual spring compressors so I could use 3 at a time on the same strut and realized that for the same money I could get a used hydraulic compressor on ebay.

Took the plunge and bought the hydraulic compressor and am very glad I did! It made it about a 30 min no sweat job per side start to finish for someone who had never changed a strut before. As mentioned earlier loosening the top nut while it is still on the car helps a lot, also do pay attention to the springs and give them the respect they deserve as that is a lot of potential there.

Final tip is to loctite the clamp bolt on the lower rear suspension. I did not the first time, developed a clunk which turned out to be the bolt having gone missing! Replaced the bolt, added some loctite and no issues since.

Good luck!
