Where to buy 40s / 50s Police Cruiser parts?
I'd very much appreciate your help.
I am thinking of building a 1950s-ish American Police Cruiser based on a regular stock kit but I would need to source from somewhere the "bits and pieces" that make it a Police car such as the siren and lights on the roof, decals etc. I have no idea where I can buy these things or even what is needed. Are you aware of any shops or modeling sites that specialize in these kinds of subjects? I am sure that I have come across one at some time but I can't for the life of me remember where. I do not have any particular cruiser in mind but this photo shows the kind of period and look I am aiming for. ANY help, advice, shared experience would be gratefully received. And if anyone has some spares they no longer need I'd be more then happy to trade.

Re: Where to buy 40s / 50s Police Cruiser parts?
Try these sites:
http://www.chimneyvilledecals.com/ http://www.classichobby.net/ http://www.jbot.ca/ Alternatively you can use parts from die cast police cars, or scratch nuild the horn and light dome. As for the kits themselves, late 40's cars as the one you show are scarse. You may still find the old Testors/IMC Ford 48' Cope. otherwise there is only a 1949 Mercury, 1949 Ford and the 50' Chevy from AMT. I do not know if there were ever HT police cars. However, you can get easily a resin conversion Cope body from Ebay. The car in the picture you showed is offered by Tom Coolidge in resin. He has also a 49/50 Olds. MCW offers some early 50' Oldsmobile that may fit. |
