2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

When I drive my Eclipse, after about 10 minutes of driving a sound starts to come from the front of my car whenever I go over a bump. It sounds like a creaking noise.

This sound is also reproduced when I turn my wheel at a stop. Or when I get out of my car after a trip and push the front of the car down.

The sound is NOT produced until I use it for a little bit, so when I get in my car in the morning and turn the wheel or go over slight bumps, no creaking sound is produced.

Thoughts on what this might be?

Just replaced my clutch and not excited to put any more money into it. It's not a problem right now, but I don't want it to become one in the future, and I plan to take it on a road trip to CO (from WI) in July, so I want to make sure everything is in working order.

Might just be your springs.

Maybe frnt swaybar bushings need to be greased?

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

i had some shit like that happen to me but i thought it was my stock springs so i swaped those out with teins, but the sound was still there...took it to this evan's tires place and they found my problem....it was the left motor mount. the rubber was cracked....so i replaced both motor mounts.....my total for the whole thing was around 300$ they installed it fast...if i was you i would check those with a flash light and if it is cracked just go on google and buy you the performance motor mounts....there cheaper and beter and you or a buddy can install together .....if you dont got buddies then take it to a shop where they do it.....all you might have to do is pay for labor....its like 40$

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

i know theres a front and rear but those dont sqeek, only the left and right ones sound like your susp. is going out .the front and rear only make the engine rock back and foward, and trust me after installing a new engine my front ones were cracked and i replace that....

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

Update:

The sound magically went away... so I figured I'd let it go until they came back again- sure enough another rain storm and they started the squeaking.

I rotated my tires and noticed that it no longer comes from the front left, instead now it sounds like the back left (where the front left tire was rotated to). Not really sure wtf is going on... going to check out the motor mounts though, seems like a couple people had the same problem.

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

do you think it may be a tire? tires can make funny noises when they start coming apart and they heat up after driving for a bit. did you hit any potholes? what brand of tire are you running.

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

That's what I started to think about now that I rotated the tires and it's making a funny noise- but I was thinking it may be the rim?

WI had a REALLY tough winter this last year and as a result more potholes than I've ever seen in my life. So yes, there have been pot holes. No one that stands out as a "oh !@#$".

The noise happens when the car seems to rock forward/backward (so when I stop or start) and also when it bounces up and down (over a bump, or when I push on it). Not really sure. I'm thinking of switching the tires again and seeing if the sound moves with it.

The tires are practicaly brand new- only about 6,000 miles and 7 months of use on them. Not sure the brand, I have to double check

Re: 2003 Eclipse GTS- suspension problem?

Could just be the sound of metal on metal from the springs. When it's the morning, you got condensation from the night lining them with water quieting them. Just a thought though. After it starts making that noise, spray different parts with water and see if it quiets; you'll also see what parts the noise is coming from too.
