92 Bravada Fuel Regulator

Hello, just bought a 92 Bravada, excellent interior and exterior, however I bought it knowing that the new regulator had to be adjusted..the gentleman had changed the fuel filter and regulator and had told me that I needed a mechanic to adjust the regulator...So I did.....I went to my local mechanic and he did tell me that he has never heard of adjusting the regulator but he tried because the fuel pressure guage was reading 80-86 psi and he told me that it should read 50-60 psi? However after much adjusting both the new and newer regulator he had no luck getting the psi down and he told me that I was looking at spending minimum $500 to get new injector kit from GM....any comments, ideas, or warnings here? Worth fixing or should I sell? I am willing to get my hands dirty, just kind of scared to work on cars..

Re: 92 Bravada Fuel Regulator

Have you resolved this issue yet? If this engine is TBI, Z engine code, fuel pressure should be 9 to 13psi. If it is CMFI, W engine code, fuel pressure should be 60 to 66psi. Showing 80 to 86psi with either engine, indicates the fuel return line is restricted.
