Unhappy Motor Problems

I heard a knocking in my motor so i got it diagnosed. They told me that it is a rod knocking or piston slap....both them and the stealership said that the motor would definatly need a new block and chances are new internals. Basically a new motor so i ask what the hell do i do.
One: i need help finding a Primera motor
Two: i was wondering will my stock ECU work with this motor and if i get an LSD transmission will i need a new ecu?
Three: Please links to sites for motors.
Thanks Blue93G20:help: :help:
for the love of god help...

Well that answers your question. Get a JDM Primera engine. There are several places that can help you. I'm most familiar with Soken in Gardena, CA, but there are many others to be sure. Check the SE-R Mailing List archives for more choices.

I recommend staying away from K. Watanabe.

Stock ECU will be fine. And LSD gearbox doesn't affect the ECU. You can use your old gearbox though.

BTW, God is with a capital G.

Dude, that sucks. Hmm, OHC engines don't have rods to slap (push rods that is). It probably valve slap, how many miles do you have, and does it only do it when the engine is cold?

Yeah, but they have connecting rods which is what they mechanic is talking about. It's not valve slap. It's also not a wrist pin. It's actually almost certainly a bearing failure, although I've heard of a few rod failures. Bearings are the most common SR20 suicide.

As far as I'm aware the biggest cause for any problem in the SR20DE(x) is infrequent oil changes (and or using the wrong weight oil).

That manifests itself in bearing failure. But, bearing failures are not limited to insufficient oil or infrequent changes.

Another somewhat common failure is clogged cam oil tubes causing terminal coking.

whatever the cause i'm crying....   .... the motor only has 102000 miles on it but i had a sr20de in my old SE-R that had close to 180000 and it ran fine. The next question is since mine is a 93.5 i need to know which version of the sr20de i have cause i guess they changed a few things half way through 93...they said the easiest way to know which motor i have is to look at the intake manifold where it connects...they said if it is at a 45 degree angle i have the 93.5 and lower motor if it is at a 90 degree angle then i have the 94 and up motor? i don't know which one it is and i don't want to get the wrong motor. my car was manufactured in January of 1993 if that helps.
Also if i get a motor that was from a car in japan then it is the JDM spec 150hp one correct? or am i retarded

Well i think they are trying to tell you about the high and low port motors. The 91-93.5 used the high port and they switched to the low port after 93.5.

Thats 150 PS (Pferdstaerka) there is a slight difference between PS and HP, just a couple of percent, it wouldn't give you any more giddy up. If you were to go to the trouble to get a JDM engine get a DET.
