08' Lancer vs. Fusion

Hello,
I am am a jr. in highschool and I am looking for a new car. I have narrowed it down to the Lancer and Fusion (both 08'). My Dad is paying for the car and he thinks the Fusion is the best car to get. I am looking at the ES Lancer. I am trying to convince him to buy me the Lancer, as I highly like the looks of the car. I plan to race with the car I get, at some point. This is more my Dads choice as what car I get, rather than mine, so I need a good argument for why I should get the lancer.

SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY.
i can sit here and boast the safety features of the lancer, but i dont know the facts about the fusion, so you'll have to do your own research there.
on top of the crumple zones both in the front and back, (which im sure the fusion has) 7 airbags (not sure about the es though) including one for your legs below the steering wheel.
they both come with abs, and the fusion comes with disc brakes instead of drums in the back... its my preference for disc brakes, but hey, its your car.
and im not sure about the 08, but in 09 they offered bluetooth ability stock on the es, so when he calls you, answering your phone is a thumb away on your steering wheel

the mitsu comes with 5 yr/60k mi bumper to bumper, 7 yr/100k mi anti corrosion, 10 yr/100k powertrain, and 5 yr unlimited mi. roadside assistance, the fusion well 3 yr 36k mi bumper to bumper, 5 yr/60k mi powertrain, and 5 yr/60k roadside assistance...
