Abs

My abs, service engine, and trac off light have been coming on recently. If i shut the car off and then restart it the lights will go off. I noticed that the abs brakes seem to be kicking on randomly even when i am not slipping and this is when the lights come on. I am wondering if it has to do with all the banging i had to do to get the rear drums off when i did the rear brakes. Could i have damaged the sensor. I have a 2002 cavalier natural gas.

Re: Abs

Natural Gas eh, never really knew anyone who owned one. Weird little option from GM. Check the sensor connection on the inside of the wheel bearing. Take it off and put it back on. See what happens. Do all 4 wheels. Start simple and cheap.

Yet another reason I am de-ABS'ing my car. I hate the issues it creates.

Re: Abs

Yeah not to keen on the whole cng thing. I cant even find a manual to help me work on it. I suppose i will have to get a factory service manual. In the end i would like to just remove the entire system. As for the abs i would like to save them if i could because they really do help in the winter.

Re: Abs

Just changed the right rear on mine. Cant buy just the sensor though so shuck out (I paid 79.99) for the rear because you have to buy the whole hub assembly not just the sensor.
