Im inspired! new project set for the GTO.

Today was the third autocross of the 08 season. I was all over the place, damn tires are too hard, brakes are too soft and my rear camber is off. The car was sliding left and right, the track guys where calling me Rhys Millen!

I still did well enough. a tad faster then the Corvettes and the mustangs in my class. they ran an avarge of 50 and I was running 46 seconds. I hit a shyt load of cones though so my end time was about 53.

so now Im really geared towards modding the car with some serious suspension work. Koni sport springs and adjustable shocks, Hotch sway-bars, pedders bushings and stoptech brakes. about 4 grand all together but it will be smoking fast after this.

Now I need a project code-name....how about "Combat Wombat"?
no, no......Rob already took that.....
OHH, "Dasterdly Dingo"!

Some of my car-club bros went too. A black 06 Eclipse GT and a Stang 4.6GT. were trying to start and autocross racing division withing the club, kinda like an ellite within the corps.

I'll upload vids or pics as soon as they become available.

Mountain Goat is perfectly fine for your project name.

Have you ever seen them guys climb? They're quick on their feet... all kinds of traction up shitty terrain and turn and stop on a dime.

... Plus, with your temper it's also fitting... if some dude makes a move on your woman you can just headbutt them like a Ram does another male during mating season.

Mountain Goat sounds good for a hill climb car. Can't use Ram, because thats taken up by Dodge. You touch my Combat Wombat and I'll spank you Night Stalker! Give me a bit...I'll see what I can come up with for a good project name.

Sounds like you got your work cut out for you Mushman! I went and watched an autocross yesterday, the car that ran the fastest time was a C6 Z06, followed by a modded EVO and many STi's and wrx's. It was cool to watch

Dethgoat. GTfO. Rambuncious Roo.

Those are my ideas, take them or leave them. But that will be one hell of a car after the project is done, you should be killing anything else in your class, barring another cone killing spree like you did this time.

La Cabra de Cono it is. Just ordered the bushings I'll be needing. Should be here in a few days.
I got some bad ass track-day brake pads from tirerack, now I gotta wait till next pay day and I'll order the rotors and bolts I'll need for stage 1.

The tires I got on right now are excellent for cone killing. Yokahama's AVS-ES100s.
I couldnt figure out why last time my car did so well and this time I was slaiding all over the place. Turns out I might of over inflated the tires. usually you want about 40-41 psi so the side wall wont flex. the max preassure on the AVS is 40psi. so they were too stiff and I lost hella grip cause of it.

next time i'll try a 38/38 split and work from there.

Dude I dunno, maybe im wrong but I just cant give props to anyone driving an Evo or STI at these events. I love those cars but autocrossing in them is too easy. its like having training wheels on. the Evo has a freaking yaw-active computer and the STI has that bad ass electronis Dif split torque limiter. all that fancy stability junk (which you cant ever turn off, its always active) and AWD make a real easy to drive car. its like the ATTESA system on the GT-R. It takes all the driver error away and makes even a two left foot driver like me look like the Stig!

I have to agree that it takes a lot of the skill out of the equation, but it does look really cool seeing some of them break all 4 loose while still going forward. The rwd cars are more entertaining though because thats how you can really tell how good of drivers some of those people are
