Angry A/C on the Fritz, Please help

My 94 Park Avenue AC is not working right at all. I am very tired of the climate control in this thing. Last winter I had A/C, now its summer and all I can seem to get is some default heat mode or something.

I turn the ignition on and the blower constantly blows hot air out of the defrost vents and floor vents. The display on the climate control does not illuminate with or without the headlights and the dimmer is on max brightness. The buttons on the climate control all light up and make a sound when pressed. However, nothing changes as far as the temp of the air coming out of the vents or which vents are working. I really don't even know where to begin in the diagnosing of this problem I am begging for help with this

A lot of possibilities here, but from your description, you either have a bad actuator, or vacuum problem feeding the programmer. Check the vacuum line from the intake manifold to the reservoir on the firewall, then follow the line inside under the dash. The programmer & actuators are located behind the glove box. This could also be a restriction in the programmer vacuum manifold. You can use a hand vacuum pump, similar to those used for bleeding brakes, to check the vacuum actuators. The one for the blend door on top of the heater core box is electric and controls the flow of hot/cold air. If the gear is broken inside, it will not move the blend door! With the glove box out, change temp settings and watch the actuators, they should move with the change in temp display settings.

Re: A/C on the Fritz, Please help

I forgot to mention that the climate control on the passenger do doesn't light up either. So, I don't have a display on the main heating/air control panel or the door. I don't think I can do the above tests/research because the control doesn't appear to even work. I don't know if it is related or not, but the traction control off light on the dash remains lit at all times, whether the traction button is pressed or not. How can I diagnose the electrical problems part of my climate control system?

Re: A/C on the Fritz, Please help

strange, i just have the same thing happening on my 91. but i also have some other symptoms. the instruments are going nuts. speedo and tach are way off. showing 6000 rpm at idle, voltmeter is on 0. oil pressure on 2, coolant in the center, and they all keep vibrating, and swinging to the left and right . the service engine light and inflatable restraint stay on after starting the car, just flickering. after a while they go off, and the abs light comes on and stays on. the a/c unit shows numbers on the display, but i can't turn it on or off either, and sometimes the display is all dark. and i get full heat at full blower speed blowing in my face, killing me...

any ideas ?
oh, and relays under the dashboard and inside the engine compartment, keep clicking like crazy....
