Re: mlps tool

I assume you are talking about the same thing as a TRS/NSS/DTRS that you are replacing. Early years require the use of a No. 43 (0.089") drill bit placed in a hole in the lever and the body of the switch while in Neutral. Newer models can be aligned or adjusted without the Ford tool which you may already know is a plate that mates with the switch and the trans. I assume you have installation instructions to guide you on this, so I'm keeping it to the point. My Haynes manual says you need to mark the shift lever position on the trans switch before removing it while in Neutral. Then with new switch in place and bolts loosely snug, slightly wiggle the switch while tightening the bolts. If you were reusing the switch, you could go by the scored circles made on it and just align the bolts on them.

Re: mlps tool

Thanks for the reply. I replaced it with no problems, no tools, no marks, no nothing needed. Just matched up the neutral mark on the new one, same as the old one, bolted it down, works like a charm, no more 634 code,, btw, that code doesn't turn on the check engine light.. I only thought something was amiss due to sort of harsh engagement when shifting into reverse, checked it, 634 came up.
