Talking G80 rearend removal

A while ago i posted a bulletin on how to identify a posi rear-end in an astro. What i got was very helpful. A picture showed that there were 4 bolts that looked like it was holding the whole assembly in place. When i do remove the gears, is this all i need to remove to pull the assembly out or are there retaining clips on the axles? Do the axles have to be pulled out so far to pull it out? Basically what i want to do is put the gears in a S10. Is it worth my while if i can find one cheap or am i wasting my time? Thanks

Re: G80 rearend removal

Are you trying to change over to a posi traction axle from a limited slip? If so the carriers are NOT interchangable. If that's what you're trying to do, you'll need to find a complete axle assembly and swap it.
