Do i REALLY need hi octain gas in my SI?

Just bought a new 07 SI and see that it calls for premium gas. Prices as high as they are i'm wondering if i made a mistake buying this over the 1.8l
Anyone use regular without a problem?

Question answered already. Yes you SHOULD always use high test if it calls for it as the engine will get way less MPG on regular fuel and you're costing yourself much more in gas anyway.
The 11:1 compression needs it and unless you want to rebuild for a lower comp....

I hear Oxi-Hydrogen Kits have an effect of increasing the octaine level of your fuel. Saves money at the pump too.
