Need some ideas...

I'm in school right now for business managment. My course work this semester involves a business core were we start, run, and shut down a business. It's a interesting experence. Right now we are in the planning stage. We are trying to come up with ideas to market to students. It could be food, retail, or services. What ideas do you guys have that could be profitable? I have a list, but want some ousider ideas.

You can't go wrong with something sex related, alcohol related and food related......So, I would say strip club!!!. Thats all I remember about college anyway. It must be profitable, strippers make good money...

And if thats not P.C. or allowed then I guess you could have a lame business. Like a cool clothing store. Or a music store...

what would be the best thing...hmmm...vending and soda machines in each building on every floor outside the huge lecture halls. perfect business. would be empty everyday easily

On campus auto repair shop? You could use it as a class and have it as a business? dunno.

Cant do anything I can get arrested for and cant compete with campus services. That throws out vending and automotive.

We are looking into opening a drink stand of some sort.

That throws out A LOT of ideas. Does automotive actually compete? Do Campus Services already have something like that?

How about Ice Cream? just have a refer truck on campus somewhere? I've also heard of pizza trucks - the oven is right in the back. Pizza and ice cream, I don't think I know anyone who doesn't like at least one or the other. Would that be competing with campus services as well? Ack - you have your work cut out for you. Heres the funny part. If the campus sees somthing that we do and they like it, they add it to the campus so it cant be done again. I'ts kind of hard, but we will figure it out.

OH and they serve pizza and ice cream....

What if you "unknowingly" hire some illegal immigrants to work at the stand, and sell... oh...packs of gum as your "actual business". If they get busted for selling drugs, claim you know nothing about it.

It's unlikely that you will come up with any completely new ideas, so start looking for “value added” ideas. Fed-Ex and UPS don't do anything that the postal service doesn't do already, but they make billions on the value added.

Start looking for a plant or facility that provides a necessary service but is under utilized, maybe for only 8 to 10 hours a day. An auto repair garage would be a perfect example. Most are open only during the day when people actually need their cars. Wouldn't it be a value added situation if the same auto repair shop had a swing shift and maybe a grave yard shift so people could get basic repairs like brakes, tune ups and even some major repairs overnight while they sleep.

The shop, or plant, is already paid for so cost should be low and you could always hire me, I like working nights and sleeping in late, but I don't come cheap.

What a fantastic idea - just hire some Mexicans Mechanics to work through the night.
