Question 89 cavalier

Need some help. I have a 89 Cavalier with 60,000 miles on it. I have a problem with starting the car. it cranks for a while the fires. also, the car will stall when you stop at a redlight or stop sign and also if you make a hard turn. I disconnected the torque converter, put a new air intake valve on, by passed the EGR valve and still no luck. any idea's on my next move? car is great for running back and fourth to work. Thanks!

Re: 89 cavalier

every thing you have said makes no sense as to running down your problem.Air intake valve (IAC ) is that it?........ tourque converter is at transmission is that what you mean? cant move car without it!! EGR I guess thats ok 89 model
last tune up: plugs, wires, cap or rotor...... whatever no info on motor
last fuel fiter
air filter
and your car only has 60,000 miles on it really thats hardly used...tell us more

Re: 89 cavalier

yes it was the IAC and I did disconnect the Tourque converter because on my last 89 cav had the same problem and disconnevting the converter solved it. fuel filter was changed 3 weeks ago, tune up was done approx. 1 month with plugs, wires and cap. motor is a 4cyl. and yes it does have only 60,000 miles on it

Re: 89 cavalier

Check For vacuum leaks and have fuel pressure checked. Dirty Carb or sticky choke?
