05 malibu oil not getting to top of engine

I have a 2005 malibu, 2.2L, 48K. It is making somewhat of a clunking noise at the top of the engine. The mechanics took apart the top of the engine and said that oil was not getting up to the top of the engine as there must be a clog somewhere. Their suggestion was to get another engine. Is there a way to find where this blockage is? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Groovy

Not sure of the oil pressure measurement exactly. The technician said it was ok, just no oil getting to the top of engine.

If your oil pressure is low it might be the reason. With that low milage it is not likely to be cloged. I would find out what the pressure is.

The oil holes come to feed bearings. Normally they will be discolored where plugged. Did the mechanic try to blow them out. Some rebuilders put the block in ovens to burn the oil out then use compressed air to blow the dust out. Some use a hot vat to clean the blocks.
If no oil is getting to the top the engine will wear out quickly You could get a valve job and blow through all oil flow openings. If blocked a complete rebuild is in order.
