renewal of the fuelpump ?

I have a 97 plymouth voyager. I lost the ground to the fuel pump relay again. I have got continuity to the relay. Now I am going back tothe rear ground block. My question is. Where is the rear ground block? The wires go into the body, above the fuel tank. could it be under the carpet inside the van. or is it even accessable? If not can the black ground wire on the pump plug be grounded somewhere else? Thanks

I found that I have continuity on all wires. I jumpered the Black ground and the green white to the relay and have a ground to the relay. I am now thinking that the fuel pump is bad. When reading the plug on the pump at the fuel tank the ohm reading is very high. if i bang on the tank it will go low or even higher. any thorghts out there. Thanks

Re: renewal of the fuelpump ?

I'm kind of confused by your post; but I will try to explain. The relay has 4 pins that are used. # 86 is hot with ignition on. #30 is hot at all times. #87 is the output to the pump. #85 is grounded by the pcm. At the pump connector black wire or wires are ground. Grounded at the left rear corner of the van behind the trim panel. Dark green wire with white tracer is the power supply from the relay. Dark blue wire is fuel level sensor input to body computer.

Re: renewal of the fuelpump ?

I have an update on the question. I still for some reason do not get a signal from the pcm. to fuel relay. I have been checking with obd ll scan tool and I get nothing. I decided to do the kay dance. I got a 12, 42 came up twice in a row. then the 55 completion. The 12 is a battery disconect to pcm in last 50 key cycles. The 42 is auto shutdown relay control circuit. Open or shorted condition detected in the auto shutdown relay circuit. I am wondering if the cam and or crank sensor are the problem here?
This is a 97 ply voyager with a 3.3L. This is driving me crazy. don't know what to do next. Thanks jpb 53 I have determined what you said to be in working order except the signal to the from pcm to pump still gone.

Re: renewal of the fuelpump ?

Open or shorted condition detected in the auto shutdown circuit. ASD relay basically works the same as the fuel punp relay. As long as the relay fuse is good and the relay is good there should be power at pin # 85 available for the the PCM to ground the circuit. When this happens the relay contacts close and power is supplied through pin 30 to pin 87.

Plug P1776 in here. It's transmission related: http://www.iequus.com/support/obd2_definitions.php
