98 G/a Bleeding Cooling System

HELLO,i like to hear from thoughs who have bleed cooling systems on a 4cyl.
with no bleeders.i no the procedure but how long did it take & was it sucessful.i replaced heater core 2 mths ago. bleed, gauge went crazy high then back down top off & seemed ok???now it still seems like its not right.i been driving not much but never had problem.blew a tire yesterday let car idle why changing temp was at 3/4 when done.tried rebleed lots of air & when it gets hot water starts spitting out res. refill cause nows its low & does same thing.fan never comes on car does'nt overheat but way to high on temp gauge.so is it air, stuck thermo thats what it some what acts like,or temp sender bad because fan doesnt come on unless ac is on.if i drive with ac defrost on it seems to funtion right. Thanks for the reply on your experiences.Mike

Re: 98 G/a Bleeding Cooling System

The air bleed is automatic on these. You'll notice a small hose coming off the water outlet that runs between the enging and firewall, then goes into the reservoir. Coolant constantly flows through, along with any air bubbles. The air goes to the top of the reservoir and the coolant goes to the bottom. I think there's one off the top of the radiator too, but I'm not sure on that.

It sounds like it's fine driving down the road, and only goes up when stopped? If so, you're probably right about the temp sender. Mine does the same thing (fan inop for high CTS, but works for A/C), my CTS reads correct, and I very rarely drive in the city, so I just let it go. It's not worth my time fixing something I don't need.
