Question Quarter Mile Times???

Wus up guys! I have a question for ya'll. If I'm right, the stock QT mile time for a GXE is 15.7. At the track on Sat. I ran 16.2!! . I was kinda dissapointed butI beat a suped up Honda Civic though . What can I do to better my Quarter mile runs?

Yea your probably right cause it had just rained and they dried off the track but it was still a little wet. I have exhaust comin in so I'm goin back at the next show to see. Hopefully it won't rain and i'll see better results. Thanks for the info 97vw

Actually, and just a thought for you, a touch of water I hear can help you get off the line better. Of course, i dont mean water on the whole track like after it rains, but if I understand right, it helps with the traction on git-up-n-go.

I'll research into this more..

has anyone else heard something like that, or does it just sound crazy?

I think it would help a lot if you told us which generation of max you have. if it is auto or stick would also help too.

I'm talking about the tires, exactly... the guy that explained it to me would splash a bit of water infront of his car at the line, and that's where the traction would come in, you know?

Id totally avoid the water if I were you. Our cars dont need to go through the water. Just burn them off on the tarmac.

I have a 95 Max( 4th Gen). It is an Automatic. I did burnout before i raced to heat up the tires. I guess i just have to work on my launches and I will experiment the water thing and see if it actually works. Thanks for the replies.

Gotta quick question for you guys. Is it better to power brake when wanting to race or just gun that biotch. I normally just gun it but if power braking is better for takeoff, How do you do it?

you just hold down the brake while revving the gas. it's hell on your tranny, pads, and rotors. i used to do it in my moms 98 taurus. (pos)

It seems that would mess some shit up though. Is that safe on the Max. It seems that too much of that would do damage
