Fuel pump

Replaced fuel pump 4 month ago with factory pump. Know it only works half of the time? What is the problem?

Re: Fuel pump

Year make and model and engine would help.
Explain the 1/2 time working.
Is it losing pressure or just pump or engine quits running?

on a 96 vehicle i would have replaced the fuel pump relay when the fuel pump was replaced...also check grounds for fuel pump....on the 1999 on up silverado the ground point is on frame rail next to fuel tank... these wires/stud connections get rusted ....

Re: Fuel pump

I had bad problems with aftermarket fuel pumps, then finally had the shop install OEM pump. Now all is well.

Re: Fuel pump

chekc ignition switch or replace it

check oil pressure switch or replace it

and the FP relay of course

all of these are in the FP circuit

check grounds also, and vcheck wiring plugs in the FP wiring from the cab back to inside the FP

some connectors for the FP are known for failing

is a common issue depending on the year make model

commonly new FP wiring pigtal connectors are sold over the counter due to this

good luck
