buy brand new or a couple of years old?
I have a question. Is it better to buy a car that is brand new? or is it better to buy one that is a couple of years old? I have heard both and want an answer because I am going to be buying a truck in a year or so.

Re: buy brand new or a couple of years old?
It depends on how much you have to pay and what you're looking for.
There's no simple answer to your question

Re: buy brand new or a couple of years old?
When you consider depreciation factor buying a brand new vehicle could be as high as 30% the first year from what you paid out the door, buying a use vehicle becomes an attractive option subject to buyer having done proper homework getting valid value and not ending up with a lemon parked in the driveway.
A well maintained 1 to 4 year old used car kept for a few years will give you just as good service as a new car for about half the price, anything older generally requires more costly maintenance.

Re: buy brand new or a couple of years old?
If you want to save money, you have a better chance if you buy a used car. Even a one year old car yields a lot of savings compared to a brand new one (and let's face it, one year isn't really that old).
Depreciation is really your biggest enemy when purchasing new cars. If you must buy a brand new car, Toyotas and Hondas are the way to go because they depreciate the least. Re: buy brand new or a couple of years old?
I always buy used cars just because it saves me money. With the way the gas prices are you can use the money you save as gas money. As long as the used car has been well maintained you should have nothing to worry about.
