Question Correct color for FD3S RX-7 Spirit R Type A...

I just received this model, and want to build it like the gray version on the boxcover. I believe this is the "final version" of the last RX-7's built. The black one looks good, but the gray one looks even better.

Is Tamiya light gunmetal a good match for the real color? We haven't had any new RX-7's in the states for many years now...

I think TS42 is the best match. I used to use TS38 but its too dark.

If you're hunting for more clear pics of the color, Mazda still has the RX-7 page up...

I've seen the production version in person. It's more brown than the light gun metal color from Tamiya. Aside from that, the over all darkness is perfect, it just needs more brown.

Thanks! After seeing the pics on the Mazda website (thanks Jay), I guess I'll be airbrushing this one. No problem, the car looks great in this color.

Good call. There's a "Titanium Gray Metallic Clearcoat" available in the 2003 Protege lineup; paint code 25G.

However, I can't find any reference at http://www.mazdausa.com/ .

<marquee bgcolor="#BAB6AA"> let's try this for background color</marquee>

Smile Here I am to save the day!

This is a Tamiya color in the MS line called Metallic Gray MS-5. The cap on the can looks metallic brown and this was a good opportunity to see what it REALLY looks like! I sprayed some over Silver Leaf and viola!, it is metallic gray with a brown tone! Very nice!

Yep, MS-3 Bright Red became TS49 after Ferrari changed to Marlboro Red. I had painted a Corvette C5 with it and it looked cool, til it melted under some lights during a photo session , but I digress.

Aint that a bitch? Okay, the bidding for my can of MS-5 starts at .......:hehehe:

Maybe it will end up in the regular TS line, I don't imagine too many Mini 4WD racers wanted to paint their cars Metallic Gray.
