2001 Malibu Power loss

I have 81,000 miles on the car. Starts fine, will not go above 3500 RPM. At that RPM it governors back and forth. No check engine light. Engine idles fine and runs fine to that RPM. Been going on for a month. Engine just started to run hot. I understand the temp problem is most likely a thermostat issue but does anyone have any ideas on the throttle issue.

Sounds like a sinsor might be going out. Not sure in your area but its about 90-100 bucks to have a diegnostics test done to it. It will see if any sensors are going out.
