need help with F-40 photoetched parts

hello everyone!

i get a photoetched detail kit for my F-40 ferrari from Scaledetails.com but no instructions came with it...
i contacted scaledetails, but they told me "there are no instructions as this transkit is for several different cars, but all the parts are easy to recognize, email me if you have problems with some parts, thank you"...

can anyone give a hand??

by the way, this is the transkit:

Re: need help with F-40 photoetched parts

Hello, Wow it looks like quite a mysterious transkit you have there. I'd be keen to find out which Alfa kit is thrown in there as the script looks like their 30's/40's era. Theres quite a bit of Testarossa bits in there too.

I'd recommend something like this from HLJ by Studio 27 http://www.hlj.com/product/S27FP2470R. This has great things like the rear mesh, details for the muffler, setrab writing for the oil cooler and more specific stuff.

Otherwise I see the front Air dam grills(though it looks solid?), the intercooler grills, exhaust manifold flanges(why?), dash surround and lots of generic badges, seatbelts, pedals, alternator fans and the best thing.....the period sunglasses!

Hope this helps. Cheers, Carey.

P.S. There are lots of cool things on this Transkit, don't get me wrong. But you might find yourself buying a Testarossa to get the most from it. If you use this http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10002175 to familiarise yourself with the Testrossa you'll see where those bits are from.

Re: need help with F-40 photoetched parts

What kinda help do you want?

I can identify alot of the parts for the F40 (and the Testarossa), but as they're not numbered it'd be hard to be of any real use (that shiny metal bit there is a-, and the one next to it is...). What kit are you building? There's really alot there that the Tamiya F40 simply doesn't need, and ironically some stuff missing that it does (like the rear mesh).

The S27 set for the F40 is rather poor. The Setrab logos for the oil cooler are about the most useful bits, but there's a huge amount that won't go on my F40 build. Alot of it simply doesn't fit. I'd say that the best PE for the Tamiya is the one included in the Monte Shell F40 GT kit.

We'll be happy to answer specific questions.

Re: need help with F-40 photoetched parts

to be honest, I am not familiarized with photo-etched parts, and even when I can identify several pieces, there are others I do not imagine what they are...
besides, even when there are others that i know what they are, I am not sure of how use them, for example, the seatbelts parts.
i was counting on the transkit instructions, but since they do not come with him, any help is welcome.
ps. I will try to place an image with which already I have identified, later

Re: need help with F-40 photoetched parts

Luchato,

Please see below the pics of the etch sheet (excuse the finger prints - I've had this laying around for a while) and a pic of a completed belt. I have colour coded each (for the seatbelts) so you know what goes where. Some of the pieces are glued / sandwiched together.

When glueing these parts it's probably beneficial if you can rough up the surface to be glued (fine sandpaper), and use something like JB Weld.

Hope this helps.

Let us know how you get on.

You're welcome.

Make sure you post some pics of the bits and pieces (and completed model) if you can.
