92 buick regal start problem 3.8L

Hi, I have 92 buick regal 3.8L car has a miss in it, I have drove the car like this for 2 years with this miss in it,because after you get upto about 15 mph the car smooths out and runs fine, it only has a miss at idle speed. What started it all is that my father in law drove the car hot till the engine shut off and after letting it set for awhile the car started back but had a miss in it ,and we never fixed it we just kept driving it like this.Although it does get aggravating because sometimes when you go to start the car it starts fine but sometimes it will die on start and when it dies on a startup you have to let the car sit for like 30 minutes to an hour before it will start again hoping it dont die out again. Had the car hooked up on scanner and all it had was a bad mass air flow sensor which I have replaced and hasn't helped it...So any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd start by checking fuel pressure during the starting issue, the miss may not be connected, especially if it ran with a miss for 2 years.

Remember without checking with a gage you do not know what pressure is , no mention of the reading here, this makes giving any advice difficult, yes a compression test may pinpoint the culprit cylinder if the miss is internal.
