4000yen isn't bad, compared to what I would pay here. 4000yen = about AUD$42, when its sold locally, it will probably be around $60. The full detail Tamiya's (eg Carrera GT, Enzo, etc) have been around that price for quite a while now.
So as long as it is full detail its fine, if its a curbside, then you're right, its too much.

Yay, a new GT-R. Now Tamiya car start on a brand new 2008 F1 car in 1/20th scale. Oh wait, I'm in reality. darn.

I think it's fairly reasonably priced too, considering how much the average Tamiya kit is in my LHS. Can I just clarify though, that this does in fact include a full engine? Can't wait now....

One of Tamiya's product releases says the "induction box" is separate, which implies that it won't have full engine details, but includes only the visible part. So I'm expecting the level of detail like the one in Aoshima's R32 GT-R or Fujimi's F430 kits.
