Please let me know if this is a good deal.

Someone in my area is selling a 5 speed manual 1993 toyota supra NONturbo targa with 183k miles. I love the 93-98 supras. I have seen the car and drivin it. The car does not shift good and the car hardley moves in first gear and I think the header of the engine is cracked. The targa leaks because the rubber seal on the driver side was put in wrong. Also someone tried to break in the car and popped out the right door handle and left minor dents and scrathes around the drivers door. I was planning on repainting the car anways because the exterior needs work and it is a dull black and I like color. The interior is a 7.5 out of 10. I talked to a mechanic in my area and he said he will swap the engine and tranny for around $950. I dont know if I should buy a twin turbo engine with a 5 speed tranny or rebuild the original engine and add a turbo to it. I also don't know how much a good engine is for a supra. The person is selling the car for 14,000 but I know i can get it for 13,000 or possible 12,500. The most I want to spend total is 18,000. Please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate the help because I'm not sure how much money it will be to fix this car up to look as good as the ones I have seen in movies and the speed of the ones I have seen on youtube. I am new to this website and I'm not sure how to check you replies yet but I'll figure it out. My email is [email protected] if you have any outher questions. Please, Please, Please HELP!!! Thank you

I wouldn't do it. If you want a turbo supra don't try to buy a non-turbo and do a conversion. With the money you would spend it's cheaper to buy a TT out the box. If you just want to buy the car and that's it. Then it shouldn't be too bad to buy a new short block from toyota. keep us posted on what you do. And any pics of the car could be helpful too.

IMO for $14 K you can get something better than that.

That particular car is way overpriced IMO, in its current condition and mileage.
