Re: Ducati Pramac WIP

looking fab there, one question, did you use microsol on foil number decal, I think when I made this model I did, and it gave the foil a crackle effect, it was either that or the clear I used, can't remember which, did you have any probs?

Re: Ducati Pramac WIP

It was the clear Microsol work abolutely flawlessly, but the clear (Tamiya) made the chrome decal crack.

Re: Ducati Pramac WIP

Of course we're watching. Super CF and great progress. Did you clear the metallic numbering? Could get you trouble as they sometimes crack. It's better to clear parts with all the other decals and then apply the metallic numbering. But, if you cleared them there is a good chance they will stand it anyhow.
This bike is SO good looking. I can tell you it looks great beside the test version also, yummie.

Re: Ducati Pramac WIP

Hi, regarding this chrome decal issue, does anybody know any clears that don't crack them, I use Mr hobby clear, as yet I have not tried this over chrome decals, but as my next build will be the LCR hionda, which has quite a few chrome decals I would be keen to find out!! also Can anyone clarify for sure that microsol also does not damage chrome decals!

by the way your bike is looking great there, lovely shine and fab cf work, I know from experience that mudguard is an awkward shape to cf, did you use one piece or join together?
Cheers
Col

Yep - used one piece of CF for the rear hugger.

As for MicroSol - I used loads of MicroSol and MicroSet on this one and no damage to the chrome decals at all. Damage (spidering) came as a result of clear coating using Tamiya clear. It is not really all that visible though.

remaining cowling

Brakes - note the forks are not Tamiya upgraded items - just painted

HAHA well, no one is saying anything, so here is another update - for those that are watching.

buttoned up the front end

all thats left is the brake lines.

rear clip - chain and shock - all kit items

front airbox/electronics - what a giant pain to decal...but I need practice for my next superdetail build of this bike.

Re: Ducati Pramac WIP

The carbon looks good. Did you make some masks before putting on the carbon?
