removing a/c installing bypass pully 94 Caprice
I have a 1994 Caprice Classic (4.3) with a ba-zillion miles. The A/C unit is grinding so I ordered a bypass pulley today. Got under the hood and realized that I really do not know what I am doing
. I am fairly good with a wrench, so this should not be that big of a deal. Do I have to take EVERYTHING off... or does the A/C pulley just somehow come off and the bypass just slide over the top? And if I do have to take everything off... is there a easier way?

then take out all the ac tubing and such and be happy that your car went on a diet and lost 10 pounds or so.

Re: removing a/c installing bypass pully 94 Caprice
I was afraid of that... if anyone has a chiltons and can send me a picture or two (from like a chiltons/haynes) ... I would greatly appreciate. Came home sick today from work. Hopefully tear into it tomorrow. I started with taking off the 3 bolts in front and could not get it to drop. I am assuming there is more. Thanks again for your replies.

the whole motor is held in place by three bolts.
one is a hinge, the other two are sliding linkages. |

first of all... SWEET iroc! Second, thanks for the info. BUT, there was also 2 - 10mm bolts behind the darn thing. About 49 cuss words later I got both of those out. Now it is done and road tested! PLEASE... if I ever attepmt to do this again, and any of you find out about it... please shoot me!
