Clicking/Clanking when I turn ('94 323)
I have a 323 that is in excellent shape but sounds like it needs the axle replaced. I have a Protege that did the same, replace the axle and all is well. My problem is that the boots at both ends on both sides are in perfect condition. How can I tell which one needs to be done if none of them are ripped ? Could it be something else ?
Thanks for any thoughts Pat |

Re: Clicking/Clanking when I turn ('94 323)
You can have a CV joint going bad that hasn't gone to the point of broaching the boots.
Another possible place the noise could be coming from is the strut bearing mounted on top of the strut. If it only makes the noise while driving and turning a corner , it is probably a CV joint. If it makes a noise when you turn the wheel while the car is standing still and driving, it is probably the strut bearing. |
