2003 venture scraping and clunking

I have a 2003 chevy venture, replaced wheel hub 2 weeks ago since it was noisy. The new wheel hub (Timken) fixed the noise problem. Now getting scraping sound in slow forward (under 10mph), but it disappears as speed increases. However, the scraping is constant when I apply the brake. When I put it in reverse and go very slow, 2-5mph, it sounds like a clunking sound. I'm not driving it. I wonder if the torque wrench I used was accurate since Timken recommended 118 ft lbs, and when I applied that amount, it seemed way to easy to get the wrench to click.

If I did run the wheel for several weeks at a too loose setting, did I ruin the wheel hub?

Should I try to re-torque using a different wrench?

Any advice appreciated.

118 should take conisderable pressure to obtain. But I don't know your strength capabilities. I don't think you have it loose enough to hurt unless you were useing an inch pound torque wrench. If you question your tools, by all means, recheck your torque.

You can still here some slight scrapeing noises from the disc pads touching the rotors. The calipers are not spring loaded and the only thing that pushes the pads off the rotors is the runout of the rotors. If the rotors have very little runout, the scrapeing/squeals will be more continuous. If the rotors have alot of runout or warpage, the scrapeing/squeals will be pulsating as the pads hit the high points.

Metallic and ceramic pads can squeal/squeak any time you apply the brakes but usually becomes less in damp or wet weather. Kind of like the bow on a violin string. Harmonics are created from the friction on the metal disc.

The noises seem to subside after a short time of driveing as the runout in the rotor pushes the pads back as far as they can and they bearly touch, unless of course you have a bad wheel bearing that leans as you turn, and once you apply the brakes you are back to square one. The same goes for backing up but you also may get a clunk from the pads shifting in the caliper.

I bought a new torgue wrench, $28 Great Neck at National auto.
I checked the torque that I had applied w/the autozone wrench and it was way light.
As you mentioned, 118 ft lbs was a considerable push on the wrench.
I had to nearly put all my weight on it to click it (I'm 175lbs and a healthy 40 something).
I re-checked the tightness on caliper and wheel hub bolts...nice and tight.
The pads have plenty remaining so the scraping wasn't the low-pad scrapper.
I test drove and everything seems great.
