the speedometer cable is conected to the tower which then runs through the firewall. im guessing this is the cruise control? my cruise is broken and was wondering if it is easy to remove this tower?

Re: cruise control tower broken

What year is your car? If the cable broke inside the cruise control head (the tower you refer), chances are it's because the control head itself jammed and will need replaced (if you want cruise) or removed (if you don't). In the event of the latter, you can run a speedometer cable right to the transmission, but consider the possibility that you will have to pull the tailcone off the trans to replace the speedo drive gear (and driven gear too), as they're likely stripped. I went through this on my old '82 Impala.
