I just got clearance from the "In-House-Boss" (my wife) to spend some cash in my SHO and I think the best way to go is to do the 60K maintenance. I have no history on the vehicle and I want to drive to Orlando in the few months so here we go:
CAN ANYONE PROVIDE ME WITH THE LIST OF ITEMS TO REPLACE FOR THE 60k MILE MAINTENANCE? I drove the car straight to Boston from Jersey City NJ at 70MPH round trip non stop w/o a single glitch but Orlando is a lot farther. Any assistance will be appreciated. |

Re: 95 SHO 60K maintenance check list
Is your SHO the manual or automatic transmission? My recall is the automatic service interval is 100k and the manual is 60k. The longer interval on the automatic is due to the use of an automatic timing belt tensioner on the automatic, but not on the manual.
Either way, I'd suggest you check here for details on either engine. -Rod |

Re: 95 SHO 60K maintenance check list
According to information at the link I posted, you don't really need to do the timing belt at the 60k interval. Do you have the owner's manual/maintenance guide that came with the car? If so, it may specify whether valve lash adjustment should be performed at the 60k mark or if that too can wait until the 100k mark.
Of course if you have over 100k and don't find evidence that the 100k service has been done, then it's a good time to replace the timing belt, water pump, Crankshaft Position Sensor, belt tensioners, upper and lower radiator hoses, spark plugs, fuel filter, adjust the valve lash, and be prepared for the fuel pump to fail. -Rod |

The car has 94K and I dont have history on the vehicle so I decided to start replacing parts that I know would fail. Noticed the park plugs were never changed (replaced), fuel pump was making that hissing noise (replaced), decided to changed the fuel filter (replaced), thermostat non in place (replaced), whiper blades (replaced), alternator (replaced), rear struts (replaced), radiator flushed and new antifreeze, O2 sensors (replaced), Air filter (replaced), Top Radiator hose (replaced) the little sensor at the bottom of the Air filter box (replaced) and a few other things I can not recall. I guess I am more than half way there. Anything else you can suggest?

Re: 95 SHO 60K maintenance check list
Breaking down during a Travel-trip is not fun!
Sometimes we replace Auto-parts befor needed,it's hard enough to keep up with regular maintenance. I would consider renting a car with unlimited mileage. If it breaks down, it doesn't mess-up the family trip. Don't forget the TOMTOM GPS! Don't be going to cheap on gas,I get tired of the Trk driver hitting on my wife. |

I was not planning on making it straight but more like a 7 hour drive and stop to rest because of the kids but in any event, minivans are very cheap now.

When is the last the transmission fluid and filter have been changed? That is one if it needs it if you want to prolong the life of the transmission.

You know what... I sort of forgot that. I will do it Thursday and I will inform you if there was any difference after.
