1999 4.3 Cold Start Issues

I am not sure if I am posting in the right place. I have a 99 S-10 Blazer. 98,000 miles. (Not has been tuned up yet.) In the last year, the Fuel pump/filter has been changed. The fuel system has been cleaned. The entire cooling system has been replaced, etc. The car runs perfectly when warmed up. However, when I start it for the first time in the morning, (temp 45-65 deg.) for the last few days, it takes a couple of tries at the key to get it to turn over. When it does, it runs like my Harley for a few minutes until it warms up. The SES light comes on when it runs rough, blinks for a couple of minutes, then goes out. The only code I have been able to retrieve is (#2 injector trouble). When the truck warms up the light goes out, it starts and runs like a top. Does any body have any ideas? Much appreciated.

What was the code no?
Have you tested the fuel pressure on a cold start?
How many miles on tune up?

Re: 1999 4.3 Cold Start Issues

Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been out of town. It has not been tuned up since I had it. I was told to tune up at 100k The strange this is that it only did it 4 times, when it was cold in the morning. I went through a tank of gas in those 4 days. I am not sure of pressure. I had the pump/filter assy changed about 8 months ago. pressures were fine then. The strange thing is that it has not done it since. I don't recall the number, the guy at Autozone erased it. It was indicating that there was a misfire on #2 cylinder. It came and went. possibly some crap in the injector? I am going to take it in for the 100,000 service next week. I am putting her up on the sale block. My family is expanding soon and I need more room. She's not big enough for 2 car sears in the back. I have a friend selling his 05 LX 470 (Glorified Land Cruiser) He just had his 4th. child. He bought a Suburban. Mabe I'll get all his handmedowns. If there is a problem, I would like to fix it before I sell it. I don't want to stick somebody with my problem. Mabe the tune up will take care of it. Thanks for replying.

Dan

Re: 1999 4.3 Cold Start Issues

You are welcome.
A good full tune up will go a long way in fixing the problems.
Let us know how it goes.
