I have a 2000 vw beetle and have problems with it periodicallly. It is and automatic. Sometimes it will not start, however if I put it in neutral it will start. Can anyone help me with this?

There is a transmission sensor on the transmission that allows the car to start in Park and Neutral.
Maybe that sensor has a problem. Check the Service Manual |

Re: 2000 vw will not start
When you say the car is not starting does it actually crank over or completely dead?

Re: 2000 vw will not start
Hey you know what, it could be that the remote key sensor is messed up also. A while ago when I replaced my remote key for a new one myself, the car would do the same thing until I installed the original chip in the remote key.
