Back-fire 1988

Hi, my 1988 Nissan v6 backfires a lot around 1500 rpms! I check for any intake leaks, and I can't find any, and I have no clue were the "air diverter valve" is located. It isn't a loud backfire, just a pop noise that is noticeable. I have an oversized K&N in it as well. Please help!

Alex

It's more an annoyance than a performance issue (imagine a viper driving down the road, and it back fires. It's humiliating)

Re: Back-fire 1988

Hi Alex,

Check under the emissions for the air induction value for the truck. Check the operation of the AB (anti-backfire) valve. Check the air induction filter, a badly clogged valve can cause the same issue.

Tom
