change oil light reset

hey, my old battery died about a week ago. Ever since then the "change oil" light has come on. The oil was changed under 500 miles ago. how do i reset/turn the light off?

2001 alero gls. 3.4L V6

Re: change oil light reset

The reset is located at the left side dash fuse box. You'll see a red reset pushbutton which is also for the tire pressure monitoring system.

With ignition to ON, press the red button until the oil change light flashes, then press and hold for a few seconds until you hear the chime and light will turn off. Take key to off and then start engine and make sure light is still off.

Also, you can pump the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds with ignition to on. Chime will sound and light should go off.
