Only 1 Push Rod is Squirting Oil
As posted below I had a starting issue with my 1990 K1500 with a 5 litre. I fixed the starting and stumbling problem with a new fuel filter after all the trouble I went through but the knocking or dieseling is still present. I took the valve cover off the side that the noise was coming from and started the motor. There is only 1 pushrod ( 2nd one from the rad side of engine ) that is squirting oil. I believe they should all be squirting oil through the centre of them, I assume I have some type of internal problem, any help would be appreciated.

Re: Only 1 Push Rod is Squirting Oil
********UPDATE********
Watch truck idle and found out all lifters and springs are moving on the side I have the valve cover off. But, the oil that was squirting out the the second rod is not there anymore and it was squirting out from another one. Do I have sticking valves ??? I also unplugged each spark plug wire at a time to see if I could isolate the problem but couldnt get it to stop knocking by unplugging each cylinder. Totally lost on this |

how many miles, how long you own . how often oil changed ,and what filter manufacturer do you use ?????????? it is remotely possible that it still is usable engine... with your other problem it sounds like your cylinders are getting too much fuel.....with gas pedal to floor to start this will decrease fuel to engine a good possibility it is a bad injector...with all the unburned gas getting into crankcase may have caused sludge to plug up oil passageways and oil pump pick up screen..... good luck with this one! |

Re: Only 1 Push Rod is Squirting Oil
125000 miles, oil changed every 3000 miles, I have owned truck for 5 years. It never burnt oil between changes and ran perfect before this. With the starting issue I did overfuel this thing big time before I got it fixed with fuel as well as cleaners. Since I put the new filter on it starts perfect without touching the fuel, really surprises me the engine may be done.
