Good Intake

I know there are a few cars out there that have problems when an intake is installed, I assume tyhe focus is one of these cars, I am looking for a short ram intake that is not going to cause any problems with the engine computer (aka. check engine light) how do they work with the mass air flow sensor? I don't really care about the power gain, I just would prefer my car didn't sound like a rental car, and i don't want to hack up the intake for when i sell the car. So after all that can anyone reccomend an intake that fits the above criteria? Thanks in advance for your time!

Re: Good Intake

Sorry I saw this so late. A good aftermarket intake will run around $300. I didn't want to spend. You must have a place for the MAFS to mount or it won't run right. Advance Auto has aftermarket intakes in stock.

Not any particular problem that we know of. What we are talking about is aftermarket intakes, meaning a part made by another company not what came on it put there by the car manufacturer. In many cases cars run better with an aftermarket part, but with the Focus I believe it would not be very cost effective. The Focus engines are already set up to perform to the maximum the way Ford built them and to get more performance you have to put aftermarket parts on them. If you notice my post before yours I explained it this way.

"A good aftermarket intake will run around $300. I didn't want to spend. You must have a place for the MAFS to mount or it won't run right. Advance Auto has aftermarket intakes in stock." The MAFS mas air flow sensor measures the amount of air passing through the intake and tells the computer how much fuel to introduce into the system to make it run smooth. If the intake doesn't have a place to mount the MAFS it won't run right and might not crank. Go to Advance Auto and see what kind of intakes they have and how much they cost.
