Grand Am issue

My room mate owns a 98 or 99 Grand Am. He was driving it and it shut off. He said that he restarted it and it went for a mile or two and shut off again. I checked it all over and found it has spark, fuel pump is kicking on, timing chain is good, the codes read EGR and O2 sensor. If I'm not mistaken the EGR should not stop it from starting. Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Re: Grand Am issue

Welcome to AF.

The specific year and engine with mileage is preffered for best results, as the 98 and 99 are totaly different.

Though it sounds like a fuel problem, has the fuel filter been replaced recently ?

Re: Grand Am issue

not that I know of but I guess that would make some sense the other thing I was going to check was breaking loose the fuel rail and making sure I'm getting fuel.
