Question GLE Disadvantages?

Does The Fancy things in the GLEs affect the performance? Like if a GXE vs GLE? and Also I heard about no rev limiter to cut off the top speed in the GLEs? What is that about...

it adds weight (take that for what it is worth). 100 pounds that big of a deal IMO.

the myth about the "rev limiter" for top speed is the ratings on the stock tires. usually the GXE have some cheap tires (low rated tires) on the steelie rims. the GLE have alloy rims with better tires, but still not performance oriented like the 16inch SE (higher rated).

disadvantages of gle
1. luxury package adds a ton of weight
2. it's auto, don't even think of making a conversion. too expensive.
3. to my knowledge they have the limiter(most cars do anyway).

advantages
1. vq power!!
2. sleeper effect
3. while your smoking cars out there you can look good also.:smoka:

these are just my opinions, i could be wrong and if I am correct me.

All hail the mighty Nissan
Ricers(civics, eclipses, etc) beware! The maxima is out for you! :twoguns:

Rebuttal (I own a GLE):

1. A ton is 2000lbs. The GLE weighs 3300lbs, the GXE is closer to 3100lbs. You're off by a factor of 10.

2. People have done it, it can be done if you really want, and they make the SE and GXE in Auto as well.

3. No speed limiter on GLE, only a rev limiter to keep you from blowing up the engine and exist on all trim models. Speed limiters exist only on the GXE model.

Yeah, an extra 100 lbs is nothing for the Max's torque to carry around, I mean just look at when you add a passenger or 2, or 3 or 4, the Max can still move them with realitive ease, so whoever thinks that the GLE is slow because it has a little more heft just better not blink or they'll be looking at MAXIMA or M_A_X_I_M_A.
GLE is so luxury, so clean clean.

100lbs is not a lot of weight. Maybe if you're racing at the track, but in terms of everyday driving, its not going to make or break the race for you. Your driving skill will have far more of an effect.

my car weighs 2895 lbs. a gxe is probably lighter cuz i have all the gle options in mine but it's 5 speed. if you take away the leather seats, fog lights and spoiler it's probably a decent difference

100% correct, 100lbs means nothing in real world driving, in fact it's a proven fact that the heavier a car is a higher speeds the more stable it is going to be.

If you're only interested in speed then lose whatever weight in the car that you can, ie lightweight wheels, lightweight battery, carbon fiber hood, less gas in your tank, remove your backseat and take the donut out of the trunk. These suggestions are only for the racing enthusiasts, otherwise I'd say keep your Max as liveable as possible.
