Time to think about mpg

So I got an internship and its a 30-45 minute drive each way. I need to get a car. My budget is 20,000 for used 25,000 for new. I'm 21 and I want something that is still fun to drive but still functional, and I have to be able to fit a couple people in it as I am the designated driver a lot. And Im a big guy, 6'2" 260 lbs.

I live in Maryland, on a farm... and I dont want to be out of luck in the winter, so AWD is almost a must. Im looking to get 25+ mpg but I also want something with decent power, talking like0-60 in at least 7 seconds. And I want something reliable. And it needs (seriously) to have a sunroof, or be a convertible (which you don't find paired with AWD)

After thinking about all of that, I found something I think would fit.

'05 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT for 19,000 with 30,000 miles
+250 hp/torque
+25 mpg (28 observed in reviews)
+Mustang GT type performance
+Sunroof + Leather interior
+5 star crash test
-Requires Premium fuel
-Not as cheap to insure as its safety rating would make you think

what do you guys think about it as a car and do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks

JCarr

Re: Time to think about mpg

The Subaru Legacy seems to fit all your requirements so I guess it should be a good buy.

But if you want to see lists of other cars with good gas mileage along with the price, you may want to check this out:

The cars that are fun to drive in the list would be the Accord, Altima and probably the Focus.
