Where to get ignition 12v?

On a '96 burb, where is the best place to tap into a 12 volt ignition wire to power accessories?

Re: Where to get ignition 12v?

Under the driver side dash, just above the brake pedal. THere is a bundle of wires running up the steering column, sometimes its wrapped in a black tape. Cut the tape carefully anfd look for a fat pink wire, its about 10-12 guage. I recommend using a volt meter or test light at the least to make sure you have the correct wire (It will be hot with 12V when the key is turned to the acc. position.

P.S. Dont poke your test leads into any plugs that are yellow, they could be airbag wires, and that would be bad.

Hope that helps.
