HELP? Newbie needs a hand
hey guys,
first off I'd like to say I'm fairly new to this car audio stuff, I know a bit.. but when it comes to certain things im pretty lost. I've bought a Pioneer P6000UB deck, a stinger 8gauge wiring kit (i know.. stinger.. but its all that I could find) A rockford Fosgate 10" P2 and... A JBL CS60.2 Now, I can pretty much figure everything out except this amp.. as I purchased it from a friend and of course he didnt have the manual or any valuable paperwork.. Now, my p2 is has dual 4ohm voice coils, how do I wire it to my amp properly? These are the only spec's on the amp I've been able to find * Power Output 60 watts RMS x 2 channel at 4 ohms * S/N Ratio 86dBA (reference 1 watts into 4 ohms) * Dynamic Power 160 watts at 2 ohms * Effective damping factor 6.39 at 4 ohms * Frequency Response 10Hz - 27kHz (-3dB) * Maximum Input Signal 6.0V * Maximum Sensitivity 100mV * Dimensions 2.2" x 8.8" x 10.3" |

Re: HELP? Newbie needs a hand
since I am sure the amp is not 1 ohm stable, you really have 2 choices. 1) wire each coil to a seperate channel 2) wire the coil in SERIES and then bridge the amp.

Re: HELP? Newbie needs a hand
That amp seems kind of underpowered for what the RMS handling of the sub is

Re: HELP? Newbie needs a hand
While i agree that the amp is way low for that sub, i do think it'll still push it okay...

Re: HELP? Newbie needs a hand
Well I know the amp is not very powerful, but I'm basically using it as a temperary unit until I get my income tax return, which is when I'll hopfully be picking up a new one. At the same time I dont want this to turn into a really big install as I don't have the budget for it at the moment, also, the car is a lease so I know all of this is going to come out within a year.
I looked on crutchfield and it showed a diagram with the voice coils wired like this Positive on VC1 to Negative on VC2, then wire the other positive and negative to a bridged amp, so I will give this a try. |
