03 malibu 3.1
When it rains or is extemely damp outside my malibu misses really bad for the 1st 2-3 minutes after starting it, any one have any ideas. It has 57000 miles, the intake gaskets have already been replaced. Could it be a coil pack or plug wires

Re: 03 malibu 3.1
Most likely moisture is condensing on the plug wires. Should replace them as suggested in previous answer.
Be sure to buy a good set of wires. Cheap wires will fail rather quickly and leave you with the same problem. I prefer Bosch or Sorenson. Be sure also to use silicon boot sealer on the wire boots of booth ends. It is available where you get the wires. |

Also look for water/moisture on the coils. I think the rain is finding a way thru the hood/windshield seal and wetting the engine. Next time it rains and you don't have to drive, as soon as it stops rainning, pop the hood and check around this seal to see if there's water runoff going thru the engine.

Re: 03 malibu 3.1
You could also put water in a spray bottle, at night open the hood and spray a mist of water on the wires and coil pak. If the wires are leaking, it should light up like a christmas tree with little sparks at all the leaks and the engine will start to miss as you previously described. "IMPATIENT MAN'S RAIN STORM"
