recently bought an '04 yukon with the bose radio system. the radio plays but i have no display. Also, it has a 6 disc player but it will not accept a cd either. i have to use the steering wheel controls to change the stations becuse none of the buttons work on the radio and volume its very aggrevating. I have disconnected the radio with hopes it would reset, also took the top cover off to see if there was an obstruction but nothing. i was going to replace it with an aftermarket radio but was informed i would lose some of the fuctions of the system like steering wheel controls and any amps associated with the bose system. its not the dimmer light either. thanks inadvance for any info!

Re: 2004 yukon bose radio problems

factory systems are becoming more and more integrated into the interior of the car, and harder to interface to with aftermarket accessories. There are boxes that allow you to interface your steering wheel controls to an aftermarket stereo - some cd players work better than others at this.

The biggest concern is that sometimes if you remove the radio in some cars (GM being the worst) the car might not even run. In these vehicles, you have to have a "dummy radio" connected to the harness and tucked away under the dash.
